Welcome to my garden blog. Grab yourself a glass of ice tea, pull up a chair and join me as I share my thoughts and experiences about gardening throughout the seasons in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The non-conforming garden is about making your garden your own.
I grew up in a family steeped in a rich history of gardening. My great grandparents, grandparents and father have all been fabulous gardeners. Each used organic practices without really knowing it. Chemicals were not a consideration in their limited budgets. They composted and used manual methods to get rid of pests. (Squish,Squirt and Plop!) I learned much about life and gardening in those many childhood hours spent in the garden with my grandfather and dad. It is because of them that I owe my love of gardening.
